Group: Ancestral Roots - New Ground

A Somatic Process Group for Immigrant Experiences A six-month series meeting monthly starting in January 2026

This group is for those who carry multiple worlds within their bodies.

  • You have moved, been uprooted, or displaced from your home of origin
  • You carry your family’s intergenerational history of migration, survival or loss
  • You struggle to find belonging
  • You feel out of place in any language, culture, location, or social/systemic norm
  • You navigate cultural nuances within a culture that feels different from your own
  • You are called names or are labeled as a “foreigner,” “alien,” or “dreamer”
  • You want to understand your feelings and explore your authentic voice

...you are welcome here.

What This Group Offers

A space to develop embodied capacity to be fully present in your current life while staying connected to your ancestral lineage - learning to ground where you are without severing where you came from.

Immigration and displacement don't just change where you live - they change how you live in your body. You may notice:

  • Chronic tension or holding patterns that emerged from hypervigilance or cultural adaptation
  • A sense of being "split" between worlds, unable to fully land anywhere
  • Disconnection from your authentic emotions, especially anger, grief, or longing
  • Exhaustion from constant code-switching and performing acceptability
  • A body that remembers what your mind tries to forget

This group uses somatic principles from Core Energetics and Radical Aliveness to help you:

Reclaim your embodied voice - Move beyond survival patterns into authentic expression. Learn to feel what you feel, not what you've been told to feel or what keeps you safe in dominant culture.

Release what's been held - Through grounding, breathwork, and movement, discharge the tension, rage, grief, and fear that accumulates in bodies that have had to adapt, comply, or disappear.

Integrate your multiplicity - You don't have to choose one identity or allegiance. Explore how to hold all of who you are - all your languages, loyalties, and contradictions - in one body.

Reconnect to your life force - Immigration often requires numbing or suppressing vitality to survive. Reclaim your aliveness, pleasure, and right to take up space.

Build community with others who understand - You won't have to explain what it means to carry multiple worlds. This group offers witnessing, resonance, and collective healing.
