Conquering Creative Mountains: A Short Tale of Fear and Freedom

Posted on March 6th, 2024

Yesterday, I sat down with my daughter, both of us grappling with the weight of her looming school project. Like many teenagers, she was overwhelmed by the workload. The project seemed colossal in her mind, especially as she contemplated creating a video, a task she felt entirely unprepared for. But as we talked it through, we realized something crucial: breaking it down into manageable steps could make it less daunting.

We started with the basics: what the video would be about, its length, and what information she needed to include. Each step brought us closer to the finish line, no matter how small. Eventually, we saw that the project wasn't as impossible as it initially seemed. The real obstacle was the fear of its perceived enormity, stifling her creativity.

This experience made me reflect on my creative journey. Whenever I feel stretched, fear creeps in. But I've come to realize that fear often feeds on false evidence, appearing far more formidable than it truly is. Remember, as the saying goes, "fear is false evidence appearing real." It's designed to keep us small and safe as if it is looking to prove its case: yes, you should stay small; that is the only safe space. Yet, staying grounded in my process and taking small, manageable steps toward my goal reminds me that growth is possible and liberating.

So, as you navigate your creative endeavors, remember to be curious about the evidence that fear presents. Am I in danger, or is this just false evidence? I hope you are doing something creative, enjoyable, and liberating today!

In the name of challenging fear and being creative, I have two new offerings coming up:

  • Introduction to Core Energetics - March 29th at 6:30 pm. This is a free event. Space is limited, so please register if you would like to attend. Feel free to email me with any questions at [email protected]

  • In May, I will collaborate with fantastic Shayla to offer a full-day workshop. Trust me, you will want to be there. Location and dates TBA.

May you be healthy, may you be happy, may you be safe, my your heart be at ease.

Natasha.
